Dog bites and other animal attacks take many forms. These incidents are almost always preventable — if the animal’s owner had taken proper actions. While dog bite injuries can cause physical and emotional trauma, I have dedicated myself to helping injured people recover what they deserve for being a victim of a dog or animal attack.

Types of injures my team and I have worked on:
- A pit bull terrier attack that left a 4-year-old boy with permanent facial scarring.
- An Akita bite that left a 7-year-old girl with significant injuries to her right cheek and right earlobe.
- A pit bull terrier attack that caused hospitalization of a 3-year-old girl with severe lacerations to her eye area, chin, lip and cheek.
- Another Akita attack that caused scarring on the upper lip and chin area of an 8-year-old girl.

2009 U.S. Dog Bite Fatality Statistics:
- 32 U.S. fatal dog attacks occurred in 2009. Despite being regulated in military housing and more than 500 U.S. cities, pit bulls accounted for 44 percent (14). Pit bulls make up approximately five precent of the U.S. dog population.
- In 2009, the combination of pit bulls and rottweilers accounted for 56 percent of the fatal attacks. In the period from 2005 to 2009, these two breeds accounted for 70 percent (103) of the total recorded deaths (148).
- The combination breakdown between the two breeds is substantial. From 2005 to 2009, pit bulls killed 82 Americans, about one citizen every 22 days, versus rottweilers, which killed 21 Americans, about one every 87 days.
- 2009 data shows that 63 percent (20) of the attacks occurred to children (11 years and younger) and 38 percent occurred to adults. Of the children, 60 percent (12) occurred to ages 2 and younger. In all attacks, males were more often victims, 59 percent than females.
- 2009 data also shows that 38 percent (12) of all fatal attacks involved multiple dogs, and 19 percent (6) involved chained dogs. 75 percent (24) of these deadly attacks occurred on the dog owner’s property and 25 percent (8) occurred off the owner’s property.
- The state of Texas led fatalities in 2009 (5) followed by Georgia and Illinois (each with 4) and California and Virginia (each with 3). Of the Texas deaths, the combination of pit bulls and rottweilers (4) accounted for 80 percent.
I have always been an advocate for the injured, and I have made it my goal to make negligent dog owners account for the pain and suffering their animals cause.
